Bachman Turner Overdrive: [2023-present] Lighting and Set Designer, world tour. The legacy of BTO continues as Randy Bachman has reclaimed the band’s moniker and embarked upon a tour carrying an efficient, bespoke production including a square video wall above the band. The tour marks BTO’s a new embrace of touring production elements to turbocharge a set list of classic rock hits.

The Concert Hall: [2023 refurbishment] Lighting Design for the 2023 re-launch of The Concert Hall as a boutique concert venue within the Masonic Temple in Toronto, Canada. Careful attention was paid to ensure that all the required elements would be included to service the myriad events planned for this venue, from A-list artists performing “underplays” in a small venue to private and corporate events, spoken word performances and dance parties.

Lauren Spencer Smith: [2023-present] Lighting and Set Designer, “Mirror” Tour. Working closely with creative director Connor Brashier, a compact and elegant set of risers and curved stairs were fabricated to lend a sense of style to the modest stages on which this rising star performed.

My Chemical Romance: [2022-present] Lighting and Set Designer, Lighting Director. “Foundations” Tour. Playing to sold out arenas in the EU, USA, Australia and Japan, this artist requires manual lighting playback for a very dramatic collection of songs in an order that changes nightly. The stage scenery depicts a post-apocalyptic landscape depicting the ruin of some formerly dominant society in front of which our heroes play their high-intensity music.

Josh Groban: [2017-present] Lighting and Set Designer, “Harmony” Tour. Lighting Designer, “Josh Groban’s Great Big Radio City Show.” Lighting and Set Designer, 2020 Livestream Series. Lighting and Set Designer, “Bridges” tour 2019. Lighting Director, “Bridges” tour. This artist requires special sensitivity to the music with a focus on the orchestral musicians that contribute to his unique sound.

Rise Against: [2021] Lighting Designer, Lighting Director “Nowhere Generation” Tour. Set Design by Jon Dunleavy. The band plays without computers or click tracks and requires a dynamic light show driven by an attentive operator.

OneRepublic: [2014-2022] Lighting and Set Design, Programming, Lighting Director. From the inaugural half-time show at the new SoFi stadium in Los Angeles to full production tours on different continents, this band played everything from television appearances to private events including the “Honda Civic” tour, “Native” tour, the “Once In A Lifetime” series performance at the Ace Hotel in LA, “Live At Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra” and myriad performances all over the globe.

Martin Learning Sessions: [2020] This webinar series was presented by lighting manufacturer Martin. This was a chance to share my experience and knowledge of our industry, gathered over 30 years. I was able to share my workflows and observations on the topics of show programming, show advancing and the importance of the local follow spot operator in three different webinars.

Jovanotti: [2011-2016] Lighting Design: “Ora” and “Backup” tours. Lighting Design, Lighting Director: “Negli Stadi” and “Negli Palasport” tours. Lighting design for one of the top selling acts in Italy.  Set design for all of these tours was conceived by Giancarlo Sforza. Jovanotti sells out venues ranging in size from 10,000 capacity “palasport” arenas to 75,000 capacity football stadiums such as San Siro in Milan and Stadio Olympico in Rome.

Kongos: [2015-2016] Lighting and Set Designer. “Egomaniac” tour. Lighting and Set Design, Lighting Director “Lunatic” tour. This band of four brothers from South Africa brought arena-level production to a club tour in an effort to stand out from their contemporaries.

Nick Carter: [2016 ] Lighting Design and Programming, Lighting Director. “All-American” tour. This member of the Backstreet Boys wanted to do a tour of small clubs to promote his solo record. Armed with just a lighting console, six LED fixtures and programming skills, I had to make the sparsest, most neglected lighting rigs in small venues look worthy of an arena-level act. It was necessary therefore to program a light show that could be applied to any situation on any equipment.

Walk Off The Earth: [2014-2015] Lighting and Set Design, Lighting Programmer, “REVO” and “Sing It All Away” tours. This creative Canadian band had a tightly choreographed stage show that included balloon drops, confetti, CO2 jets and flying ukuleles. The entire light show was programmed to be triggered by MIDI commands from the band’s backing tracks for flawless playback every night; their “virtual Lighting Director” was essentially a recording of my lighting performance.

Matchbox Twenty: [2012-2013] Lighting Director. “North” tour. Production Design by Justin Collie. This band and their management always put live performance at the top of their priorities. With no timecode reference in any of their performance, lighting cues were executed manually and precisely while calling four follow spots.

Weezer: [2012] Lighting Director. The band was between albums and major tours and needed a lighting director capable of improvising with a festival, corporate or casino stage and local lighting package. Their only set piece at the time was their “W” logo trimmed with incandescent bulbs, which made for some fun marquee programming.

Van Halen: [2012] Lighting Director. “A Different Kind Of Truth” tour.  Production Desgin by Phil Ealy. This legendary band required some “old school” follow spot direction and very “live” console operation for this tour in support of their first studio album with David Lee Roth since 1984.

Linkin Park: [2003-2012] Lighting and Set Design, Lighting Director. Handled all aspects of concert lighting and coordination of lighting, video and staging elements for all of the band’s live performances. The Goo Goo Dolls: [2006-2007] Lighting, Set and Media Designer, Lighting Director, Let Love In Tour.  On this tour I developed original media content for a design that incorporated novel roll-drop pixel curtains to display this content in harmony with the lighting cues.

All American Rejects: [2007] Lighting, Set and Media Design. “Tournado” tour. The set consisted of an LED wall made to look like the band’s guitar amplifiers with elegant red velour drapes trimming the scene.

Audioslave: [2005] Lighting and Set Designer, Lighting Director, Out Of Exile 2005 US Tour.  A simple, low-tech and classic PAR-can based lighting design was requested by this supergroup formed by the union of members of Rage Against The Machine and Chris Cornell.  I designed original backdrops and custom set dressing for a minimalist stage.

Avril Lavigne: [2004-2005 ] Lighting, Set and Media Design, Lighting Director, “Bonez” World Tour.  This international tour made stops on every continent with the exception of Antarctica.
